Once you have completed a web site and gone globle with it, how long before your site will start showing up on search engine results? Yahoo, Google, Ask etc? And once it dose how is the easiest way to find out what that site is ranked over all when a search is done? Also if you make any modifications to the site how long will it take before ranking changes? T.Y.

How Long Does It Take For Search Engines To Update Site Information?

I have recently changed the home (index) page of my web site and am having some trouble locating the site using search engines such as Google. After typing in all the keywords it came up with some information which clearly comes from my updated home page but it also included such phrases as ‘this site is still under construction’ which relates to the old index page. Also the heading shown for the site simply says ‘template’ which I do not understand. I obviously want the title of the site when displayed on the net to be the same or nearly the same as my actual site name. HELP!

Did you know submitting a URL in a question or answer does nothing to boost your ranking in Search Engines?

Both Yahoo answers and Wikipedia place a no-follow attribute to their external links- so even though you can click it search engines don’t follow it. That is my understanding of it (check for yourself – right click view source and find an external link). Is this true or am I misunderstanding the way spiders work?
